What are Apps?

Applications or Apps are specific practical software programs that have been optimized for use on small screened mobile viewing devices such as mobile phones. These Apps are accessed via a mobile phone or other mobile devices.

Apps have now become an extension of the way companies are doing business, either by having a website, or by utilizing the web to generate more business.

There are thousands of smartphone applications. All the major smartphone manufacturers, Apple iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Samsung, LG, Nokia, and Palm have their own Apps store and phone applications.

1. Vlingo:

Available from Tucows. In addition to making phone call it lets you use voice commands to search the internet, send emails, and send text messages. There is a free version as well as a Pro version for less than $20 a year.

Versions are available for, Blackberry, iPhone, Windows Mobile, and Nokia mobile devices.

2. Facebook for Blackberry

Another app by Tucows. Now you can use your Blackberry to update your profile on Facebook. There are already Facebook Apps available from the other major manufacturers smartphones.

3. Evernote:

Created by Evernote. Helps you capture and store information, such as, photos, audio, and text, from the web. You can then access your stored data from the web, as well as from an iPhone, Windows Mobile, Palm Pre, and Android smartphone.

4. iHeartradio:

Available from iheartradio.com. Currently, it is only available for the iPhones and Blackberry. It enables you to access regional radio stations, as well radio stations, from around the world.

5. Agendus:

Available from Agendus.com. It is a very useful App for tracking appointments and scheduling, all in one place. It is also available for, Blackberry, iPhone, Symbian, Windows Mobile, and Pocket PC devices.

6. Remember The Milk:

This is a great way to keep track of things-to-do. There’s also a version for, iPhone, Blackberry, and other smartphones. Versions are available for, iPhone, Windows Mobile, and Black Berry.

7. IM+ All-In-One Messenger:

Available from Shape Services. This is a great app for accessing your instant messaging via Google Talk, AOL, Bing, ICQ, and other chat applications.

8. WorldMate Live Gold:

Available from WorldMate. This is a excellent travel app that helps you keep track of flights, currency exchange, and time around the world.
